Manila takes hoop centerstage as it hosts BASKETBALLCON

Filipino basketball fans will get a real and unique treat on Sunday, June 25, 2023, as BASKETBALLCON arrives in Manila. To be held at the Paco Arena in Manila, the brand-new basketball lifestyle conference will be from 11AM to 5PM.

The conference will highlight the Filipinos’ passion and love for the sport where fans from all over the country can come together, connect and experience the sport in a different yet exciting way. 

The gathering will feature a 3×3 streetball challenge, web3 emerging technology sessions, exhibitor booths, panel talks with some of the most successful figures in the basketball industry, fan meetup, plus some live hip-hop music and streetball dribbling exhibitions.

Renowned player development coach Phil Handy of the Los Angeles Lakers will serve as the keynote speaker at this year’s inaugural BASKETBALLCON event. Handy, who owns three NBA championship rings, has worked with some of the most basketball teams and players in the world, including the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving. He is recognized for his ability to connect with the players while developing their skills.

The panel discussion will feature prominent basketball figures, including Handy, as well as former professional basketball players, coaches, sports analysts, and web3 experts. Conference attendees will generate much knowledge from these experts as they share their views and valuable experiences in the field of basketball.

BASKETBALLCON will also feature an open forum on the hot topic of who is the Greatest Player of All Time (GOAT). NBA Top Shot Philippine collectors and sneakerheads will be there to share their vast collection of basketball memorabilia. The exhibitor booths will feature the latest basketball gear, sneakers, apparel, accessories, among others from the most popular brands in the industry.

The streetball exhibitions interspersed with dance battles will be performed by some of the most skilled basketball talents and freestylers in the country. It will showcase the creativity, athleticism and flair of the Filipino streetball ballers and street dancers.

BCON event director and founder Marco Selorio is brimming with excitement as the conference approaches. “We’re thrilled to be bringing BASKETBALLCON to Manila. Our aim is to create an event that celebrates the Filipino passion for basketball, build a community, and showcase the incredible talent in the country. Other guests expected to grace the occasion include Barangay Ginebra’s forward Jared Dillinger, international coach Dave Riemer, Magnolia Hotshots assistant coach, Juno Sauler, JBond of Bayckada, broadcaster Jinno Rufino and the four hosts of the popular basketball podcast, “An Eternity of Basketball,” – Charlie Cuna, Sid Ventura, Noel Zarate and this writer.

Also attending will be the men from the House of Crypto and the WSB Streetball Dance Community.
